'Moto Match' Creates a Moto X Based on Your Facebook Photos

This Android vending machine picture produced a bright green Moto X.
This photo I took in Wales created a more subdued looking phone.
Moto Match pulled the blue from this photo from Facebook and created a Facebook phone like no other.
There were lots of colors at this Flaming Lips show, but Moto Match picked grey for the back of the device.
I love the purple that Moto Match picked out from a feathered mask I wore to a costume party.
There was no pink in this shot I took at a Rosebuds show last year, making it an interesting choice.
Pink was a common color for Moto Match in my concert shots, perhaps due to all the flesh tones?
Motorola is offering a new way to customize your Moto X smartphone — with the help of your Facebook photos.
A new Facebook app launching on Thursday lets you create a custom Moto X based on the colors in photos from your Facebook albums. When you find a combination you like, you can finish the process using Motorola’s Moto Maker and have your smartphone creation sent to your doorstep.

“We wanted to provide [customers] with the opportunity to design a smartphone that is really theirs. It expresses their individual style. It expresses what they love, so they can show that off to the world,” Jennifer Henry, director of global marketing and communication at Motorola, told Mashable.
“We wanted to create experiences for them either online or out in the physical world that could really bring that to life,” she added.
Using the Moto Match Facebook app is exceptionally simple. Just give the app access to your Facebook photos, and select some of your favorites for a peek at what they might look like in smartphone form.
The app defaults to just showing you options based on your cover photos, but all of your Facebook photos are up for grabs.
Using an early build of the app, I was able to create a dozen or so unique looks based on my photos in just a few minutes. If you’re not a fan of your own photos, there’s also a gallery where you can look at unique creations from others.
Individual colors in each design can be swapped out (the back plate, accent color and front of the phone are customizable). A refresh button on the page gives you a whole new look based on the same picture.
When you find a combo you like pressing the "Complete Yours" button, the page will take you off Facebook to Motorola’s Moto Maker, where you can make any final tweaks and order your custom handset.
Motorola launched Moto Maker, an online tool that lets you create a custom Moto X, last month.
Check out the gallery above for some of the phones I created using my own Facebook photos. You can give Moto Match a try now on Facebook.
