Rockstar Games made music from blockbuster Grand Theft Auto V available on iTunes on Tuesday. The three-album set features music licensed by the game and an original score.
The music of the Grand Theft Auto franchise always acts as something bigger than a scene-setter. The franchise has prominently featured radio stations full of curated content. One of the albums acts as a best-of collection with songs from the game's 17 radio stations.

Rockstar said this is the first GTA to feature its own original score, which is on the second album. The game's score was created by Tangerine Dream, The Alchemist and Oh No, as well as Woody Jackson, who created the music for Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire. DJ Shadow arranged the score.
The third album includes original music, inspired by Grand Theft Auto V, by such recording artists as A$AP Rocky, Neon Indian and Yeasayer.

BONUS: 'Grand Theft Auto V' On a Beautiful Mural in NYC
A painter finishes up the facial details of Trevor, a main character in the new Grand Theft Auto V game.
The mural uses script typography for the name Trevor, one of the main characters in the new Grand Theft Auto V game.
The mural will take approximately a week to complete. Artists expect to finish it this Friday, Aug. 30.
The painters use Photoshop renderings as reference for the mural.
The mural is being painted on the wall behind the Win Restaurant Equipment Center on Houston and Lafayette Streets in New York City.
The wall being painted is about 75 feet by 13 feet.
According to one painter, murals are more meaningful than printed materials because the process is a performance.
Oil-based enamel paints have richer more vibrant colors than printed advertising materials, like billboards.
The mural is painted in the Fresco Secco style, using oil-based enamel paint.
The painters have to match the colors on the concept art to the ones used on the mural by eye.
