With her Desperate Housewives days behind her, Eva Longoria wants you to now picture her as a desperate mother — an animated one. Longoria executive produces and stars in Hulu's new original series, Mother Up!, which premiered Wednesday.
Longoria voices Rudi Wilson, a music executive who after sparking a scandal moves from Manhattan to the suburbs to raise her two children without her husband or nanny.
The series follows her parenthood struggles in comedic fashion. The show also stars, as Hulu describes them, her "wildly imaginative 5-year-old girl, Apple, and a Charlie Brown-esque, slightly introverted 9-year-old son, Dick," The first two episodes debuted Wednesday, with a new episode slated to premiere every week for the next four weeks.
“We’re exposing the truth about what’s happening and what’s really going on for moms," Mother Up! co-creator Katie Torpey said in a statement.
Mother Up! is Hulu's second original animated series, following Seth Meyer's The Awesomes. Hulu renewed The Awesomes, a series about a legendary crime-fighting team whose best heroes have left, for 10 more episodes in September.
Longoria, who isn't a mother, elaborates about Mother Up! in this video:
