This isn't the first time the American Idol alum has worked with the legendary band.
Lambert, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor most recently collaborated in September 2013 as part of the iHeartRadio Music Fesitval. According to the official press release, it was that performance which sparked conversation between the trio about taking their show on the road.
Tickets will go on sale March 14 and the 19-date tour will kick off in Chicago on July 19th.
Queen's final tour with Freddie Mercury was in 1986. The singer, who died of bronchopneumonia from AIDs in 1991, was known for his over-the-top stage presence and four-octave range. In other words, filling the late singer's shoes is no easy task.
However, Lambert has been preparing since his earliest days on Idol. Check him out below auditioning for the show back in 2009 with "Bohemian Rhapsody."
