Cooling tower help regulate temperature by cooling hot equipment or heat exchanger. The thermal efficiency, proper operation and longevity of the water cooling system all depend on the quality of water. We collected sample from four points. 1. Plant inlet from cooling tower, 2. Plant outlet from different heat exchanger, 3. Make up water, 4. Drainage water or bleed off water. To assess the extent of deterioration, physicochemical characteristics of cooling tower water were analyzed for water temperature(WTemp), pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), dissolved oxygen (DO), Chlorides, turbidity, Total suspended solids (TSS), total hardness, total alkalinity, total organic carbon, Phosphate, heavy metal such as Zinc, Cadmium, Copper, Lead and Iron. Water samples were assayed to determine the content of the following trace metals: Cadmium, copper, Lead, Zinc. A Metrohm 797 VA computrace polarograph was used for all metal measurements. Temperature of water bodies Varied between 28.7 deg C and 33.8 deg C, that means plant inlet from cooling tower water temperature is 31.6 deg C, Plant outlet from different heat exchanger water temperature is 33.8 deg C, make-up water temperature is 28.7 deg C. pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), dissolved oxygen (DO), Chlorides, turbidity, Total suspended solids (TSS), total hardness, total alkalinity, total organic carbon, Phosphate of water except make up water was very close, but trace metal was not close (different from each other).
