ALL Hollywood movie watchers are quite familiar with the name AVATAR, a smashing hit of year 2009, a movie breaking all box office records in US as well as all over the world. But, when I watched the movie carefully, some questions hit me. Something disturbing, something expected but unexpected. The movie silently reflected the racial mind of the movie makers.
In the movie, as we remember, a different planet PANDORA is introduced, with a population called "Na'bi". If noticed carefully, it is hard to miss that the characters of the planet were designed and voiced resembling African tribal population. The dress up of the natives, the looks, the behavior, even the persons who gave these characters voice, all are African... In their language, BLACK. SO, the question rises, when from the history of the world there are various aboriginal types, why are only African aboriginals reflected by those characters? Do the movie makers feel prejudice about the black community? Where does it leave us? Are we still in the age of racism? Who knows?
