Candy Crush Saga just received a massive game update, adding an additional game world and 65 brand new levels. You know what that means: Prepare to spend even more time and money on the seriously addictive puzzler.
The update introduces a new game mode, Dreamworld. Any player that has completed at least 50 levels of the original Candy Crush Saga can access the new area by tapping (or clicking in Facebook) on a new character, Odus the Owl, on the game map.

When you enter Odus' Dreamworld, you have a chance to play a new set of levels, this time, with a twist.
Although the standard match-three motif of matching candies to bring down items or blast jelly blocks remains, players now have an additional task to keep in mind: Keep Odus from falling of his perch on the moon.
After the first move, Odus the Owl has two colored candies on each side. The idea is to keep Odus balanced by clearing equal numbers of those candies. So if you clear too many blocks of a yellow candy and don't balance out by clearing a few green candies, Odus will fall off the moon and your game will end.
The good news is that every move (regardless of color match) increases Odus' moon power. Once the Moon Struck meter is filled, it will explode on the screen and remove an entire color from the board. The Moon Struck power rewards players who do massive moves worth lots of points or that clear lots of candies.
Right now there are 65 levels of Candy Crush Saga Dreamworld. The level types are similar to the standard Candy Crush game, meaning some require you to reach a certain score target, some require the player to clear a certain number of jellies and some require bringing down ingredients.
The twist of the game is similar to what PopCap did with its excellent puzzler, Peggle many moons ago, when it released an expansion, Peggle: Nights. I like this kind of add-on because it adds new content to the game without making it a separate experience or download.
It's not clear if Candy Crush maker King will expand the original game beyond its current 500 level limit, but I could see both worlds continuing to get updates over time.
Candy Crush Saga is the most popular game on Facebook and consistently one of the top grossing apps on iOS and Android. It has been downloaded more than 500 million times in just one year.
The game was making $850,000 a day back in September (a figure that has probably only increase) and as a result, King is reportedly looking at going public.
The update is available for iOS, Android and Facebook.
