Everest Failures saves TWO
A HERO mountaineer who aborted his attempt to conquer Mount Everest 150 metres from the summit helped save two climbers on the way down.
Brave Scot Stephen Green, 23, was forced to give up his bid to reach the the 29,029ft peak after running short of oxygen.
But he and colleagues then rescued Bangladeshi journalist Musa Ibrahim and Edinburgh doctor Nigel Williams after finding them unconscious in the snow on their way back to camp.
Last night Stephen, from Edinburgh, said: "It's frustrating I didn't make it but I'm glad I was able to help those guys."
Stephen attempted the mission last month along with climbers including England rugby international Josh Lewsey.
But the star also had to give up after his mask froze over.
Stephen raised £6,500 for Marie Curie and Cancer Research in tribute to his father Raymond, who died from bowel cancer two years ago.
And despite the setback Stephen plans to try again next April.
He said: "It might sound crazy but I am just determined to do it."
