When i was mere a child we didnt have any television in our home. i am talking about the year 1976 or 77. My father was an officer of Chittagong Jute Manufacturing Company Limited. Previously it was owned by Ispahani group and it was second biggest jute mill in the country after Adamjee. My world of dream and reality, both were confined inside the residensial area of that jute mill . In total around 45 families were there including managers, senior and junior officers occupying big areas on the bank of river Kornofully. Only two of the family had televisions. If my readers remember , there were two very popular serials shown by BTV. One was Hawai Five O and the other was Wild Wild West. During the show time I with my elder brother and two sisters went to one of that house and sat on floor where other boys and girls were also there beside me. The big living room was full to the brim with us. That time was very special for us like a community place . Many years we went there without any hesitation the family always accepted all of us. Now i think it is suprising for any family now a days. And our this get to gather ceased with a black and white Tv bought by my father one day. The of the arrival of that TV to our house was very special to us. Several days before my parents made a space for that TV to place and we visited chittagong new market with wonders to choose a TV. That TV was our pride and center of interest for many days.
