Perhaps, once Mujib as well will be like that." - Radio Akash Bani- 16 Auguts, 1975 "Millions of people of Bangladesh shall consider the gruesome death of Sheikh Mujib to be irreparable loss."- The Daily telegraph পৃথিবীতে মনে হয় শুধু দুইজন মানুষকে হত্যা করতে হাত কেপেছিল খুনির। একজন হলেন চে গুয়েভারা যাকে হত্যা করার সময় খুনি তার দিকে তাকিয়ে , তার চোখের দিকে আর ব্যক্তিত্বের দিকে তাকিয়ে গুলি করতে পারছিল না। শেষ পর্যন্ত নিজে মুখ ঘুরিয়ে পিস্তল তাক করে গুলি করে কারণ গুয়েভারা এর তাকিয়ে তাকিয়ে গুলি করার তার পক্ষে সম্ভব নয়। দ্বিতীয় জন হলেন শেখ মুজিব। তার ব্যাক্ত্বের কাছে, বজ্রকন্ঠের কাছে হত্যাকারীর পা থেকে যেন মাটি সরে গিয়েছিল ! মেজর হুদা যখন রাইফেল হাতে এগিয়ে তখন মুজিব সিরি তে নেমে এলেন এবং বললেন- " ও আচ্ছা তাহলে তুমি ? কি চাও তুমি ?" হুদা কন্ঠ শুনে ভয় পেয়ে বলল আপনাকে তুলে নিয়ে যেতে এসেছে।

মুজিব বলেন " এটা কি মজা পেয়েছ ?" বিজলি চমকালো যেন কন্ঠে আর ব্যক্তিত্বে ! হুদা ভয়ে বেসামাল হয়ে গেলেন আর পিছু হটতে লাগলেন আর দ্বিধাগ্রস্ত হয়ে গেলেন আর অস্ত্র পড়ে গেল হাত থেকে। এরপর হাবিলদার মোসলেমউদ্দিন এলেন কিন্তু বেকুব হয়ে দাড়িয়ে রইলেন যেন অস্ত্র তাক করে আর এ দেখে মাতাল মেজর নুর তখন গুলি করলেন কারণ তিনি জানতেন সজাগ চিত্তে বঙ্গবন্ধু কে খুন করা সম্ভব নয় আর তাই মাতাল হয়ে এসেছিলেন। হে জাতির পিতা, এখনো যখন ভাবি যে আপনি যদি বেচে থাকতেন তাহলে এই প্রজন্ম কে দেখতেন, আর একবার মঞ্চে উঠতেন আর প্রকম্পিত স্বরে , দরাজ গলায় ভাষণ দিতেন ! ভাবতেই লোম কূপে শিহরণ খেলে। আপনি আপনার কাজ করেছেন, এবার আমাদের পালা-ভয় নাই, চিন্তা নাই ...কারণ- শোনো একটি মজিবরের ধ্বনি লক্ষ মজিবরের কন্ঠে স্বরে ধ্বনি প্রতিধ্বনি আকাশে বাতাসে উঠে রনি- বাংলাদেশ আমার বাংলাদেশ- ।
